The Map Of The Internet

Russian programmer Ruslan Enikeev has taken the time to document websites and make a map of the internet—so you won’t get lost.

The Internet Map features 350,000 websites—in the look liken to planets—and how they relate to each other.

Like Google maps, The Internet Map lets users zoom in and out, and search for specific 'locations' on the internet.

But unlike real maps, the objects shown are not aligned on a surface.

“Every site is a circle on the map, and its size is determined by website traffic,” Enikeev wrote, “the larger the amount of traffic, the bigger the circle. Users’ switching between websites forms links, and the stronger the link, the closer the websites tend to arrange themselves to each other.”

Each site is also color-coded by its country of origin. For example, US sites are colored teal/light-blue.

And as one could expect, there are lots of porn sites.
