In Japan, A Treehouse Apartment For Birds, No Rent Charged

Japan-based design firm Nendo has created a treehouse for one person and 78 birds.

Dubbed the ‘Bird Apartment’, the treehouse was designed for Ando Momofuku Center—a facility located in a forest in Komoro City of Japan’s mountainous Nagano Prefecture, devoted to promoting and increasing access to nature activities.

One side of the Bird Apartment features 78 nesting spaces for birds.

On other side, visitors can get a unique bird-watching experience by climbing up and into the treehouse using the ladder, and peeping into the birds’ apartments through tiny holes from inside the treehouse.
