Redesigned Subway Maps That Reflect The Unique Identities Of Their Cities

New York City

Seoul-based graphic design studio Zero Per Zero has embarked on an on-going project where they redesign the subway maps of cities—while most subway maps typically aim to be as clear and concise as possible, these have a different objective.

The maps from the “City Railway System” project represent a “new approach to projecting the identity of a city onto its subway map”. In other words, they seek to capture and visualise the essence of the cities they map.

The maps are centered around a symbol of their respective cities—for instance, a heart for New York City and a tulip for Amsterdam.

Eye-catching and vibrantly colored, these maps would make for great souvenirs that are still capable of showing you the way during your trip—click here to check out more maps from the series.
