Eye-Opening Photographs Of People Who Live Alone In The Wilderness

Russian photographer Danila Tkachenko captured these eye-opening photographs of people who have chosen to live solitary lives in the wilderness.

Like these portraits of people who have rejected the modern world, his series ‘Escape’ documents individuals in Russia and Ukraine who have withdrawn from society to live alone among nature.

Surrounded by dense foliage and undergrowth, they now eke out a hermetic existence in makeshift dwellings that offer refuge from their former lives.

Tkachenko’s photographs are compiled in a book titled Escape, which is available from Peperoni Books.
